Light pollution Saldes

The municipality of Saldes, located at the foot of the Pedraforca mountain, has a privileged location surrounded by mountains that protect it from light pollution from more populated areas such as La Cerdanya, Berga, Manresa or the Metropolitan area of Barcelona. Taking advantage of the new Decree 190/2015 on environmental management of lighting for the protection of the night environment of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Saldes wants to define itself as a reference area of light pollution and give value to the conditions of darkness that characterize it to become an astronomical reference that will attract more tourists.

In order to become the first reference area for the protection of the night environment, the municipality has proposed to replace all public lighting with more efficient lighting that minimizes the emission of light towards the sky. For this project, Salvi has provided its solution for filtering the blue wavelengths of LED luminaires, which are the ones that have the greatest impact on light pollution. Thus, with Salvi's Amber Diffuser, energy efficiency is not detrimental to light pollution, allowing the use of the best available technologies in protected environments.
