The most central bridge in the city

Located in Cullera, Valencia

The City Council of Cullera has decided to put a stop to the deterioration of the most central bridge of the city, popularly known as Pont de Pedra.

This is one of the six viaducts over the Xúquer river in the municipality and, most certainly, the one that together with the historic Pont de Ferro was in the worst state of conservation after years of neglect and lack of maintenance.
The works have made it possible to widen the sidewalks, which until now were narrow and made it difficult for pedestrians to cross. To this end, one of the two traffic lanes has been eliminated both on the access to the bridge from Rambla Sant Isidre and on the descent towards Diagonal and Avinguda del Port, as they were unnecessary due to the configuration of the connection. However, the two lanes in the central area to cross the bridge are maintained. The concrete railings, which were very deteriorated, have also been demolished, and in their place a guardrail will be installed to protect vehicles in the area facing Rambla Sant Isidre and a railing on the river side. The access stairs have also been renovated.
New lighting
All the bridge railings and the pre-installation of LED lighting have been changed. This is one of the great novelties, since it has changeable lighting. During the commemoration of days dedicated to a cause, it can be illuminated with the representative colors of the cause. The intention is to make this bridge, which lacks historical and architectural value, but is located in the heart of the city, more emblematic and attractive.
